The
International Indian Film Academy today announced the IIFA Foundation
Celebrity Cricket Match is to be played at the Olympic Stadium in
Amsterdam on June 10th. The match is the highlight of this year's
IIFA Weekend in Amsterdam to be held from the 9th to the 12th of
June. The match is being played to raise funds for various projects
undertaken for the welfare of the Indian film industry artistes.
Kick starting the contributions to the IIFA Foundation Indian superstar
Feroz Khan pledges Rs. 1,00,0001 (One lakh and one rupees) towards
the IIFA Foundation.
The
IIFA Foundation Celebrity Cricket Match, conceptualized by Wizcraft
International Entertainment, will be played between two teams led
by superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan, the team captains.
Some of the players on the two teams include Anil Kapoor, Vivek
Oberoi, Abhishek Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Fardeen Khan, Zayed Khan,
Jimmy Shergill, Arshad Warsi, David Dhawan, Sohail Macklai.
Cricketers
Azzahruddin and Aravinda D'Silva will also play in the foundations
match. The commentators for the game will be actors Chunky Panday
and Boman Irani with Neelam Kothari. Leading ladies Preity Zinta,
Manisha Koirala, Diya Mirza, Shilpa Shetty, Esha Deol, Kareena Kapoor
and several stars, producers, directors and celebrities will also
be present to cheer the players on the field. The match promises
to be a day of fun and excitement as global Indian Cinema fans and
cricket fans come together to watch their favourite stars play for
a cause.

for the IIFA Foundation Cricket Match are available www.schiphol.com-
the official ticket distribution facilitator for the IIFA Awards
and the IIFA Celebrity Cricket match, making tickets available at
all outlets across the Netherlands. Tickets for the IIFA Awards
are priced at Euro 260, 160 and 85, while the IIFA Foundation Cricket
Match are priced at Euro 30.
While
announcing the IIFA Foundation Celebrity Cricket Match Wiz Sabbas
Joseph, Director, Wizcraft International Entertainment, said "The
IIFA Foundation Celebrity Cricket Match is an attempt by IIFA with
the support of the Indian film industry, to provide much-needed
support to the behind-the-scenes workers of the Indian film industry
and their families, who have faced misfortune during the course
of shooting. With this match and the other exciting action around
the Samsung IIFA Awards in Amsterdam, Indian cinema fans across
the globe can look forward to excitement and action."
This
year the proceeds of the match will be given towards building a
medical facility for the Film industry workers, to start an ambulance
service at Film City in Mumbai and to build a corpus along with
the Cine Artistes Welfare trust towards a Pension Project for film
industry workers.
In
2004, the first IIFA Foundation Celebrity Cricket match was held
during the IIFA Weekend in Johannesburg. In the next year, Singapore
saw an exciting IIFA Foundation Celebrity Football match. This year
STAR TV, the official broadcaster for the Samsung IIFA Awards, Amsterdam,
will telecast excerpts of the IIFA Foundation Celebrity Cricket
Match.
ABOUT
THE IIFA FOUNDATION
The
IIFA Foundation was instituted in 2003 to assist and support the
families of film industry workers who are adversely affected during
production of films. This has been the long-standing goal of the
foundation. The IIFA Foundation has been instituted in association
with the IL&FS Foundation Company Limited (ITCL), who are responsible
for the financial management of the Foundation to achieve the objectives
of the IIFA Management. The Governance Framework has been structured
to have a Trustee, which is the ITCL, who would ensure that the
activities of the Foundation are carried out in accordance with
its objectives. The Directors of Wizcraft International Entertainment
Pvt. Ltd., the producers and promoters of the IIFA movement represent
the Executive Committee. The Advisory Board Members support and
guide the Management.
