celebrates business heroes at 'Trading Places'
Awards 2010 |
Barclays
Bank Plc celebrated the success stories of
British businesses, founded by heroic individuals
who have triumphed over adversity in setting
up their ventures, at the Trading Places Awards
2010 on 30th November. The winner was Richard
Cartwright of Newcastle Books. John Charles
of Catering2Order was the runner-up and Andrew
Kent of Andy's Kars won the Community Award
2010.

Minister
for Business and Enterprise Mark Prisk today
hosted a networking event with representatives
of local enterprise partnerships to acknowledge
the progress made so far and discuss the way
ahead for the new partnerships. The groups
discussed the recent White Paper on Local
Growth and how local enterprise partnerships
can get started on delivering their priorities
for local economic development.

for 2010 |
Enterprise
Asia, a non government organization for entrepreneurship,
named Rajesh Kamat, Chief Executive Officer
of COLORS and Group COO of Viacom18, as one
of the Outstanding Entrepreneurs of
Asia Pacific for 2010. The award recognizes
individuals who have demonstrated entrepreneurial
attributes, including the tenacity to continue
innovating and making a difference even in
tough business environments.

Dr
Rami Ranger MBE, founder of consumer products
company Sun Mark Ltd, celebrated his company
receiving The Queen's Award for Enterprise
for the second year running on Saturday 20th
November 2010 at the SAS Radisson in London.
Her Majesty's special representative, The
Queen’s Lieutenant Mr. Robert Leader DL presented
Dr Ranger with the awards certificates.

is named as 'Enterprise Capital of the UK' |
Rotherham
has been named the most enterprising place
in the UK, following its drive to create a
new generation of entrepreneurs. The South
Yorkshire town won the title by coming first
in this years Enterprising Britain competition.
The competition, which is now in its sixth
year, is a nationwide search for the most
enterprising place in the UK.

announces new business mentoring network |
Vince
Cable announced a new 40,000-strong network
of business mentors and called on more businesses
to join up. The mentoring network has been
developed in response to the needs of entrepreneurs
and small business across the country. The
Annual Small Business Survey 2007/08 found
that businesses which used external advice
in the last 12 months were twice as likely
to have grown their workforce.

Secretary launches new Entrepreneurs' Forum |
Business
Secretary Vince Cable announced an Entrepreneurs'
Forum to provide informal advice on new business
and enterprise policies. The forum is part
of the Government's agenda to engage with
business people on unleashing enterprise and
encouraging entrepreneurship. Up to 26 entrepreneurs
will sit on the forum, including Dawn Gibbins
(pictured left).
