 Painted
by Kanwal Dhaliwal 'The Valiant Ones' is a
set of personality portraits of unique individuals
who lived on Indian soil in the country's
recent history. Initiated in 2008 with the
portrait of Gaihal Singh Chhajjalwadi, an
obscure martyr slaughtered by his own kind,
Kanwal continued to choose controversial figures
who challenged the system.

| Restless
Ribeiro: An Indian Artist in Britain: 24th
May - 29th June 2013 |
 In
May 2013, Asia House will present the first
memorial exhibition of the Indian-born artist
Lance Ribeiro (1933 – 2010). Comprising
over 70 works, this exhibition will bring
together landscapes, portraits, still-lifes,
and abstract compositions produced by the
artist over five decades, reflecting his wide
ranging interests. Ribeiro was born in Bombay
to a Catholic Goan family. He joined his brother,
the artist F.N Souza, in London in 1950, originally
setting out to study accountancy before abandoning
it to take up painting.

Panchal: Paintings of Exile & Home, 15th May
- 8th June 2013 |
 The
Piano Nobile gallery is to exhibit works by
Indian artist Shanti Panchal under the theme
'Exile and Home' from 15th May - 8th June
2013 at its Portland Road site in London.
The London-based painter Shanti Panchal, who
was born the mid-to-late 1950s in the Indian
village of Mesar in northern Gujarat, paints
large-scale, fresco like watercolours of subtle
vibrancy that are at once movingly archaic
and contemporary in their compassionate humanity.

work of Charles Correa, India's Greatest Architect
- accompanied by the 'Out of India' season
of talks and events from 14th May until 4th
September 2013 at its Portland Place HQ in
London.

Icons: 100 Years of Indian Cinema, 8th March
- 16th June 2013 |
 This
year is the centenary anniversary of the first
Indian feature film, Raja Harishchandra, and
the National Media Museum Bradford is marking
the historical occasion with the exhibition
Bollywood Icons: 100 Years of Indian Cinema
(March 8th – June 16th 2013). The exhibition
will display 53 vintage and contemporary posters,
including rare first prints from Bambaiwali
(1941) Coolie (1983) Teesri Manzil (1966)
& Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985). It also
features clips from the first Indian feature,
Raja Harishchandra.

fundraiser for India’s First Fine Arts
University |
 Leading
figures from the arts, creative industries,
business and society gathered at the Saatchi
Gallery in central London on the 15th of November
for a fundraising event by international charity
Arts for India to bring the first Fine Arts
University to India. The event saw a special
auction of artworks supplied by Tanya Baxter
Contemporary which promotes the work of progressive
Indian artists.
