The Empress, a brand new play by Tanika Gupta
MBE, explores the intimate relationship between
the ageing Queen Victoria and her Indian attendant,
Abdul Karim, alongside the remarkable stories
of the Indian Ayahs living and working in
nineteenth century London. The play will receive
its world premiere at The Swan Theatre as
part of the Royal Shakespeare Company's Summer
Season on 11th April and will run until 4th
May 2013.

Daughters Trial' is a compelling new
play written by a women barrister. In a unique
theatre experience Kali is presenting it in
the former Westminster County Court in London
from 8th - 25th April 2013. The play features
Parveen, an ambitious young Muslim barrister
who faces her own trial when she must decide
whether to section her mentally ill mother
against her familys wishes.

reality of dementia. An aerial drama, 'Mind
Walking' opens at The Albany, London on 22nd
March and tours until 21st April 2013.

presents dance spectacular 'Maaya' |
Akademi,
in association with Arts in Parliament, presented
a dance spectacular entitled 'Maaya' at Westminster
Hall, Houses of Parliament in London on Thursday
5th July 2012. With a vibrant cast including
Gauri Tripathi and Priyadarsini Govind, 'Maaya'
is the first South Asian dance ever to be
performed in the Hall. The event was attended
by Akademi Patron Lord Swraj Paul; the Indian
High Commissioner to the UK H.E. Dr Jaimini
Bhagwati and the deputy High Commissioner
Dr Rajesh Prasad.

100' investment in developing artists' scheme
launched |
Following
a hugely successfully run of Ishy Din's debut
play' Snookered' Tamasha Theatre Co has launched
'Tamasha 100,' a scheme to support its developing
artists (TDA) programme. The aim is to recruit
one hundred donors willing to invest £100
for three years in the TDA initiative to discover
the next generation of unheard voices.
