Tamasha Artistic Director
Sudha Bhuchar explains "Our ambitious three
year Small Lives, Global Ties programme will enable
us to shine a light on a range of perspectives
and stories that connect people from the multiple
diasporas within Britain, to their countries of
origin. The plan includes Snookered by Ishy Din,
a razor sharp new play about friendship and betrayal;
The Arrival, inspired by the graphic novel by
Oscar winner Shaun Tan; My Name is by Sudha Bhuchar
and international work on their sell out production
of 'The Trouble with Asian Men'.

and tangible professional opportunities for emerging
and established theatre artists throughout their

routes of progression from training to employment.

bursaries, traineeships and showcase opportunities,
as well as ongoing professional support.
About 'Tamasha 100'
By becoming a 'Tamasha 100',
you agree to give £100 annually for the
next 3 years. The money will be pooled and invested
as follows:
- £250 will support a new artist to come
on to a Tamasha (TDA) course. It was Ishy Din's
attendance on a new writing course that led
to Snookered being commissioned.
- £500 will support
a promising artist develop a new idea. 'Auntie
Netta' and 'All I want is a British Passport!'
starring Nadim Sawalha began this way.
- £1000 will allow
a deeper relationship with emerging artists.
A group of artists working on early ideas for
scratch performances could benefit.
- £3000 will support
an associate artist in a bespoke project.
- £5000 + will go
towards commissioning a play or similar online
commission leading to a core production like
Snookered. You will be invited into the heart
of the company: your name can be attached to
directly making a difference to a particular
project or artist and you can be credited across
our publications and marketing materials. You
will receive advance information on events and
have growing opportunities to connect with our
circle of artists.
Both the founders, Kristine
Landon Smith and Sudha Bhuchar believe that an
investment in Tamasha clearly bears dividends
in the wider cultural landscape.
