Cricketer Ravi Bopara urges South Asian kids to get active

England cricketer, Ravi Bopara, is helping the British Heart Foundation get South Asian children active. Figures from the BHF’s newly published ‘Physical activity statistics 2012’ show just one in 10 children in England realise they need to do 60 minutes of physical activity each day to stay fit and help ward off serious diseases such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

A University of Leicester historian has unearthed new facts on the first-ever ‘Indian’ cricket tour to Britain in 1911. Dr Prashant Kidambi’s research has been featured in a widely acclaimed essay in the 148th edition of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack, telling the long-forgotten story of this extraordinary tour a century ago.

Boxing hero Amir Khan was voted 'Sports Personality of the Decade' at the British Asian Sports Awards (BASA) last night in London (7th March 2011). The event, hosted by Eastenders star Nitin Ganatra and Holby City stunner Laila Rouass, took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane and celebrated its tenth anniversary with sports & TV celebrities.
