About the Opening Night Film
'That Girl in Yellow Boots'
USA Premiere, India/2010, 101 mins.
Director: Anurag Kashyap
Synopsis:
'That Girl in Yellow Boots' is a thriller tracing
Ruths search for her father - a man she
hardly knew but cannot forget. Desperation drives
Ruth to work without a permit at a massage parlour;
a job her boy-friend procures for her. Torn between
several schisms, Mumbai becomes the alien yet
strangely familiar backdrop for Ruth's quest.
In the metropolis erupting with a million screaming
dreams and fears, Ruth struggles to find her independence
and space even as she is sucked deeper into the
labyrinthine politics of the city's underbelly.
And everyone wants a piece of her. Battered, bruised,
buffeted about...Ruth stumbles inexorably on towards
the climax of her search. The revelations that
follow are a double-edged sword.
